Toronto Criminal Lawyer | Brian Weingarten
Brian Weingarten Defence Law bills by one of two methods:
- Block Fee
- Hourly Fee
For criminal matters, clients have the option to choose either of these billing methods.
Generally, clients prefer to be billed on a block fee basis. Block fees provide certainty as to the legal fees that will be charged either for your entire case, or for various steps taken in the matter.
Brian Weingarten discusses his fees at the initial client meeting after assessing the nature and complexity of the problem. All fees will be set out in writing in a retainer agreement prior to starting work on the matter.
Brian Weingarten Defence Law believes in transparency in billing and will always provide detailed dockets outlining the work that was done. Dockets will be provided for both block fee and hourly rate clients.
Securities Act and Competition Act matters are only billed on an hourly basis. Similarly, Brian Weingarten Defence Law’s regulatory risk management, and due-diligence consulting is only billed on an hourly basis. Our consulting is tailored to the specific needs of the business or individual. The process is an ongoing dialogue and the legal opinions differ depending upon the real or hypothetical factual situations contemplated. As such, it is not possible to accurately quote a block fee for these services.
Brian Weingarten Defence Law accepts legal aid certificates in select criminal matters as part of our commitment to social justice.
For our private clients, payment plans can be arranged to fit your needs.
